Now that you have sourdough starter going, (we call ours, Sally) learn how to make
a farmer artisan sourdough bread easily.
No long kneading necessary. Wow
yourself and others with the ability to make the much sought after bread that has
immense flavor depth and character. You
will be amazed by how easy it will be to duplicate at home. Bring home a loaf of baked bread AND some
dough for baking another time. Bring a 4

are a fully American creation? (now adapted in other parts of the world, of
course). They came about in the early
1800’s and became a beloved home-sweet-home tradition. Learn how to make your own donuts. Learn the traditional recipe/method
and a healthier version that is tasty too!

Learn together the original recipe/method and a healthier version
that is tasty too! Bring home donuts for
snack later. 2 hours. Children must be at least 8 and be
accompanied by a participating adult. $40 per P/C pair
Jams & Jellies
Imagine a row of glass jars filled with red, burgundy, gold,
and green goodness, like stained glass.
Think of the morning compliments you will get with each spread of your
own preserves. Understand how you can
control what goes into the jam and jelly you make, as one way to keep unwanted
chemicals or other additives out of your family’s diet. Imagine the gifts you can make for others! This session will make a batch of jam and a
batch of jelly for a full understanding of both methods. Participants bring home a jar of each! 2.5
hours. $40 pp
Pie Pastry
Does making pie pastry confound you? Do you throw up your hands and go buy Pillsbury? The session is for you! Learn how it is not hard to make pie
pastries. Learn several tips and tricks
for making the pastries that reduce the time it takes to make a pie. Discover ways to make a flaky, delicious pie
crust that will bring you compliments. We PROMISE. Bring home 2 pastries. 2 hours.

Pie Baking
Don’t just need the pastry skills? Want the enchilada? A full Pie session? That’s ok, we got that. Spend a few hours from start to finish
learning the tips and tricks of making a top-notch fruit pie from scratch. Depending on the number of students, a
variety of pies will be made and taken home to delight others with your new
found heritage culinary skills. 3 hours. $45 pp
Kids CookIn Club I
This club is designed to be a fun 6 session series that builds on each previous session. In the fabulously unique heritage kitchen, kids ages 11-13 will
participate in this club with a 3-part focus. 1. Cooking is FUN. 2. Kitchen/Food Safety. And, 3. Healthful/Nutritious
Foods. Club kids will engage in an
increasing skill level to make foods that include deviled eggs, applesauce, jam,
breakfast, garlic mashed potatoes, and meatloaf all with few ingredients and
only few utensils necessary for reproducing for their families at home. A snack time is built in and kids will bring
home some of what they make for sharing. 1.5 hours. $95 pc for 6 week series.
Home Canning 101
Learn to preserve the bounty of your abundant agricultural
area. Planning a garden? Learn these skills before you need to use them! This session will focus on acidic food/acidified
canning using the water bath method.
Participants will gain an understanding of the minimal equipment
necessary for the process, the important food safety steps, and overcome any
fear of canning. Learn when to use a water bath canner and when a pressure canner is needed...and understand why knowledge of the difference is SO IMPORTANT. Valerie is certified by the Department of Agriculture to instruct canning, via the Better Process Control certification. In addition to a lot of
fun, and memories, participants will bring home a share of the session’s canned
goods! 2 hours. $35 pp
Home Canning 102
In this session, participants will learn home food
preservation using a pressure canner. Here, all mystery and concern about pressure canning is addressed. Hands-on experiencing of food preparation, jar and equipment
preparation, pressure canner safety and maintenance, filled jar storage…and
more. Valerie is certified by the Department of Agriculture to instruct canning (both acidified and non-acid), via the Better Process Control certification. Participants share in the effort
and divide the completed jars of product to take home.

for YOU! 2 hours. $35 pp

This regional delicacy is much sought after and soon you will be
producing it for yourself and friends. Enjoy pickled asparagus in salads, bloody marys, alongside a hotdog in a bun, just by itself. So many uses! Bring a friend, laugh, play with your food, leave the mess in our
heritage kitchen. Divide the finished
product and take it home. 2.5 hours. $40 pp
